So I just moved into a new apartment, technically it is a quadplex but whatever. Yay! How wonderful for you! yada yada yada… I have gotten a lot of that recently. Not a bad first place to be on my own. Very good actually.
Not much kitchen space so I have to get creative with that… I have realized that I don’t know how to feed myself in healthy ways. I know fundamentally what is good and bad, but the art of cooking is lost on me. I have a feeling that crockpot recipes will be my friend.
I also have been trying to think of ways to decorate. Being of the male species, I have no creative vision for my living space. Very much function over form. I have a dark brown concrete floors and light grey walls so I have have no idea how to make it look nice. I don’t really like white furniture so adding shelves seems like the only option I have is black but I have not gotten any yet so I am really unsure. Wood (or wood veneer) shelves seem a bit strange because they can be dark and match the floors or they are too light and feel really out of place. Maybe I am just being too picky because I don’t have a vision for what I want it to look like. I do know that I would like a rug to sit between the entertainment center and the couch, mostly to hide some cables for the surround sound speakers. I think the office is coming together though. I feel like it is simple and that is why it works. I am sure it could use a small rug too.
One big thing that I am sad about involving the move is involving my ex. I know she would have helped a bit when it came to the decor and whatnot even with her not living there. Then just thinking about having a place to just relax and have our midnight dance parties (get your mind out of the gutter) or something without having to worry about the people above or below being disturbed. I just have had these fantasies of us spending time together here, but I know that won’t be the case.
I don’t know, just some stuff I have been thinking about. Definitely will continue to work on the space and maybe get to a point that is a bit more visually appealing. Will make a new post if major progress is made before I move out, or at least when the one year mark rolls around and I renew my lease.
